Surprise! Our Family (and Bettr) Just Got Bigger

On 19 September 2025 at 12:46 p.m., we welcomed Charlotte “Charlie” Ava Martin into the world – 3.6 kg, 54 cm, and already keeping us on our toes.

This isn’t just a birth announcement. It’s a celebration of our wonderfully blended family: Lauren, Liam (10), Emma (8), Ollie (7), Tom (5), and now little Charlie. Think Brady Bunch, but with more spreadsheets and a family business twist.

If things seemed quiet on social media last week or so, now you know why!

Bettr Strata is, at its heart, a family business. Not perfect, but passionate about strata and the communities we have the privilege of managing. Our “why” starts at home: building something meaningful together, teaching our kids about teamwork, and showing them that love and laughter are the best foundations for any venture.

The last few years have brought more personal and business chaos than most people experience in a lifetime, packed into just a few short years! Through it all, I’ve focused on faith, family, and building a future we can all be proud of.

I consider myself incredibly fortunate that God brought Lauren into my life, and I’m equally grateful that Liam and Emma have a wonderful mother in our co-parenting journey. Ollie and Tom are just as lucky to have a supportive dad. Our family is living proof that when you combine collaboration, respect, and a dash of chaos, you can create something extraordinary – both at home and at work.

A huge thank you to our family and support network who’ve helped us navigate nearly two years together. There are a lot of dynamics at play, and that support mirrors what we aim to build with Bettr Strata: we don’t take on every plan, but when we do, we’re all in. We have your back. We’re not your family, but we’ll show up for you, support you, and treat your property as if it were our own.

To friends and colleagues: I know this announcement might catch some of you off guard. After a few turbulent years, I’ve become more private with personal news. If you’re wondering, “Why didn’t JM tell me?” – please know it was a conscious choice to protect my family and focus on what matters most. This milestone, though, had to be shared, because it would be odd to turn up at an event with a few extra kids in tow!

I’m often asked, “If we sign or re-sign with you, how do we know you won’t just disappear?” The short answer is you don’t – but God-willing, I hope this news reassures you: I’m here for the long haul. I have to be!

Thank you for being part of our story. Here’s to new beginnings, big dreams, and a business built on family values (and maybe a little sibling rivalry).

Sometimes sharing big news takes courage, and I appreciate your understanding as we celebrate this special moment.

With gratitude,

JM
